Job Requirements of Counselor/Therapist:
- High School/GED required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred*
- *experience in lieu of education is accepted for the requirements with Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work or psychology preferred
WORK EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Counselor
- At least two (2) years’ experience preferred
Therapist
- Working knowledge of DSM-5 required
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
- CADC, CRADC or other applicable credential through the MCB required
- PLPC, LPC, LMCW, LCSW, PLMFT or LMFT, license in Missouri preferred

Counselor/Therapist
Compensation: $26.78-$39.29 hourly - dependent on licensure
Due to critical service need of the communities we serve, we are offering a $4000.00 sign-on bonus.* We are eager to continue to provide quality and compassionate care in our service areas and need you to make this happen!
The Counselor or Therapist provides individual and group counseling to consumers with substance use disorders and their codependents with the goal of helping them to improve functioning and reduce substance use, thereby enhancing their quality of life. They assess, treat, counsel, provide crisis intervention services, and refer consumers of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – JOB SPECIFIC
Counselor
- Perform the twelve core functions as set down by the Missouri Credentialing Board: screening, intake, orientation, assessment, education, referral, record keeping, treatment planning, counseling, case management, crisis intervention and consultation
- Participate in treatment meetings and staffing
- Maintain an adequate caseload size to meeting productivity expectations
- Complete required paper and electronic documentation within required timeframes
- Update documentation as required by standards
- Respond to general chart audits and contract compliance visits
- Although driving is not an essential function of the position, a valid license and agency established minimum automobile coverage are required in the event the employee drives during employment
- Abide by ethical standards as set forth by the MCB and the agency
- Collect and process urine drug screens
- Other duties as assigned
Therapist
- Provide psychotherapy for persons served
- Provide triage services to persons who present during open access hours, as needed
- Serve as a team coordinator for referrals, maintaining wait list, and care of consumers receiving services at OUD clinic
- Assessing appropriateness/readiness of referrals for counseling
- Function as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Maintain client records, following agency and state regulations including
- knowledge of utilization management criteria.
- Maintain agreed upon level of customer care requirements
- Will provide culturally competent services to meet the unique cultural needs of each agency consumer and family member
- Complete treatment plans with persons served
- Be knowledgeable of other human/social services for purposes of referral if the agency is unable to provide a service and maintain documentation of such referrals
- Interface with other human/social services to provide holistic services to persons served.
- Provide emergency services for crisis calls/walk-ins per the daytime crisis protocol
- Provide licensure supervision, if applicable
- Regular attendance (except as excused)
- Attend all training as required by Compass Health Network, Accreditors and Funders
- Collect and process urine drug screens
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor

- Regular exposure to blood and/or body fluids
