Job Requirements of Medical Services Supervisor:
• High School/GED required
• Associate’s degree preferred
• Equivalent work experience required if associate’s degree is not obtained
• At least six (6) years work experience in a medical office or hospital setting with direct patient care preferred
• Knowledge of medical office terminology, procedures and equipment required
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Medical Assistant Certification, LPN, or RN licensed in Missouri required

Medical Services Supervisor
Compensation: $25.37/hr (MA) $29.00/hr (LPN) $34.00/hr (RN)
Due to critical service need of the communities we serve, we are offering a $1,500 sign-on bonus for Medical Assistants; additional $2,500 for Nurses.* We are eager to continue to provide quality and compassionate care in our service areas and need you to make this happen!
Responsible for supervisory functions related to medical services. This position supervises the Medical Assistants, Patient Care Specialist, Medical Scheduler, and Clinic Nurse for Primary Care. This position does require direct patient care when necessary to meet the needs of the clinical setting. This position will serve as a Primary Care special projects lead with the Vice President of Primary Care Operations as required.
This position is Full-time, benefit eligible and will work Monday-Friday.
Responsibilities include:
• Prepare patients for examination and treatment. Take patient’s histories, vital signs, and document in patient chart
• Perform venipunctures, urinalysis, EKGs and other procedures as directed
• Administer immunizations and other injections
• Provide patient education and instruction
• Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment, including sterilization
• Triage incoming calls for medical appointments to determine urgency of appointment need; schedule patient appointments
• Perform required documentation to process prior authorization requests for medications and services ordered by Compass Health Providers.
• Make follow up calls to those who have missed appointments and triage for rescheduling; assist patients in appointment attendance; assist in sending letters to those who cannot be reached via phone
• Regular attendance, except as excused
• Assist with scanning/filing of incoming medical records/reports
• Administration and management of program operations; maintain coordination of services and communication among program components
• Ensure that all licensing and accrediting standards are followed (i.e. HRSA, DMH, NCQA, CARF, etc.)
• Oversee laboratory functions and ensure CLIA and OSHA standards are followed
• Oversee Pharmaceutical Patient Assistance Applications, sample meds, vaccines, and ensure that documentation of medication-related activities are accurately documented
• Coordinate with the Program Manager to ensure VFC programs guidelines are appropriate followed and vaccines and medical supplies are ordered, obtained and stored within agency guidelines
• Complete all required VFC trainings and provide site back up to Program Manager
• Maintain storage of necessary medications and medical supplies in accordance with agency policies and procedures including the monitoring of proper refrigeration
• Participate in agency’s Quality Improvement program as assigned including PDSA cycles for process Improvement
• Keep informed of, and communicate, any changes to Medicare, Medicaid, and any Private Insurance Carriers regarding covered services and pre-authorization processes as they relate to provision of services and quality patient care
• Ensure that all incidents are documented and reported
• Function as part of a multi-disciplinary team and lead weekly Integrated Care Team meetings
• Manage staff productivity to maximize performance and efficiency
• With EVP, Deputy Director of Primary Care Operations and Regional Nursing Director, ensure that programs are operating within defined budget and take corrective actions as necessary
• Directly supervise, set priorities for, and support the Nurse Care Manager, Medical Assistants, Medical Scheduler (if applicable) and Patient Care Specialist
• Complete annual performance reviews
• Participate in the recruitment, hiring, and training of Medical Services staff
• Will ensure staff seeks culturally competent services and service providers to meet the unique cultural needs of each agency consumer and family member
• Ensure that staff members are providing excellent customer service, as trained
• Special projects as assigned
• All other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
• Oversees day-to-day operations and tasks of supervisees
• Completes performance development/AIM process
• Time card management – manages time sheets
• Ensures progress and development is made toward departmental strategic plan goals
WORKING CONDITIONS & EXPOSURE RISK
• Regular exposure to blood and/or body fluids
• Regular exposure to radiation sources
• Regular exposure to biohazard waste materials
• Operating vehicles or machinery
