Victim Advocate
Compensation: $18.00/hour + shift differentials
Due to critical service need of the communities we serve, we are offering a $1,000 sign-on bonus.* We are eager to continue to provide quality and compassionate care in our service areas and need you to make this happen!
This is a Full-time position. The schedule is Tuesday - Friday 11:00am - 7:00pm, Saturday 8:00am - 4:00pm. This candidate will be responsible for conducting a weekly children's group.
The Victim Advocate works with adults and children who are victims of domestic/sexual violence. They provide educational advocacy and community education on agency programs and how to access needed services. The victim advocate will perform other duties as assigned by the Shelter Director and/or Shelter Services Manager.
Responsibilities Include:
• Answer and respond appropriately to the crisis line and make appropriate referrals
• Meet resident’s immediate needs, assist in resident future and current safety planning, and in identifying and meeting individual goals
• Participate in fundraisers pertinent to A Safe Place, special projects, and recreational/social activities with residents
• Attend staff meetings
• Attend 40 hours of training, pertinent to job role per year through in-service training at Compass or outside the agency
• Accept and appropriately store donated goods and supplies. Assist in creating and maintaining record of donation sand donor master list
• Facilitate and/or co-facilitate community groups within A Safe Place that educate, support, and help resolve conflicts that arise
• Ensure all intake paperwork is completed within 24 hours or the first working day after initiation of services.
• Provide transportation for residents as assigned and when available; Driving is an essential function of this position
• Complete mandatory sanitation in shelter (including but not limited to dusting, wiping down surfaces, sweeping, mopping, and loading/unloading dishwashers) facility daily and document according to policy
• Care of chickens including feeding, watering, handling chickens, collecting eggs, and maintaining cleanliness of habitat
• Other duties as assigned
