Project Director- Youth Suicide Prevention

Compass Health Network Any Compass location, MO (Onsite) Full-Time

Compensation: $70,699.20 annually

The Project Director, Youth Suicide Prevention will provide fiscal, administrative, and clinical oversight of the SAMHSA-funded Garrett Lee Smith State/Tribal Youth Suicide Prevention and Early Intervention (GLS) Program. The Project Director will provide program development, community outreach and engagement to identified
stakeholders, overall clinical oversight, and communication with SAMHSA regarding the project, as well as ensure all grant requirements are met.

This is a full-time, benefit eligible position working Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm, with occasional evenings. This is a hybrid position with will work both remotely and in the community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – JOB SPECIFIC:

• Oversee the GLS grant program to ensure all goals and objectives are met and identify areas for
possible expansion and improvement
• Complete all required reporting according to SAMHSA’s guidelines and required timelines,
including in- depth written reports on the progress of the grant project and continuation
applications as needed
• Maintain contact and communication with SAMHSA through regular meetings with SAMHSA’s Grant
Project Officer, responsiveness to inquiries/request from SAMHSA, attendance at training
opportunities for grantees, and use eRA Commons.
• Collaborate with Project Evaluator to ensure that data collection processes are in place for
required reporting and quality monitoring
• Implement youth suicide prevention and early intervention strategies, in partnership with
community stakeholders, for youth up to age 24 with a special emphasis on reaching adolescent black
males and LGBTQIA+ youth
• Develop relationships with community partners, such as school systems, educational institutions,
juvenile justice systems, hospital systems, public health systems, and other child and youth
support organizations to integrate trauma-informed, evidence-based, and culturally appropriate
screening and interventions for youth at risk for suicide
• Oversee outreach and education efforts for youth suicide prevention, including:
o Supervising a team of community-based Outreach and Education Specialists
o Developing creative strategies for outreaching at-risk populations, including adolescent black
males and LGBTQIA+ youth
o Ensuring immediate support and resources are provided to families from the Suicide Prevention
Resource Center (SPRC)
o Ensuring timely connection to services for youth who are at risk for suicide
o Develop and implement community training related youth suicide and overdose deaths
• Coordinate with existing Crisis Services teams to implement co-location of Compass staff at
area hospitals to enhance follow-up and connection to services for youth who are hospitalized for
suicide ideation/attempts
• Establish and facilitate a monthly steering committee to discuss planning, implementation,
operations, challenges, and barriers faced by the target population of the GLS grant
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and security of protected health information collected during the
project
• Travel required in state for program oversight
• Travel out of state for SAMHSA-required conferences, minimal required
• Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

• Oversees day-to-day operations and tasks of supervisees
• Completes performance development/AIM process
• Time card management
• Ensures progress is made toward departmental strategic plan goals

Job Requirements:

Master’s degree in human services or related field required.

• 5+ years of experience working in a social service setting required
• Experience working with youth at risk of suicide preferred
• Experience in grant management preferred
• A valid driver’s license and agency established minimum automobile coverage required
