Victim Advocate
Compensation: $18.00/hour + shift differentials
Due to critical service need of the communities we serve, we are offering a $500 sign-on bonus.* We are eager to continue to provide quality and compassionate care in our service areas and need you to make this happen!
This is a part-time position. The schedule will be Monday: 1 pm to 7 pm, Thursday: 3 pm to 9 pm and Saturday: 12 pm to 8 pm.
The Victim Advocate works with adults and children who are victims of domestic/sexual violence. Provide educational advocacy, provide community education on agency programs and how to access needed services. Safety Planning.
Responsibilities Include:
• Answer and respond appropriately to the crisis line and make appropriate referrals
• Meet residential immediate needs, assist in enhancing resident decision making capacities, assist in resident future and safety planning
• Participate in Shelter fundraisers and special projects, and recreational/social activities with residents
• Attend staff meetings and attend 40 hours of training per year through in-service training at COMTREA or outside the agency
• Accept and appropriately store donated goods and shelter supplies as needed
• Facilitate and/or co-facilitate community groups within the shelter that educate and help resolve conflicts that arise
• Ensure all intake paperwork is completed within 24 hours or the first working day after initiation of services
o Assist resident in developing a personal safety plan
• Provide limited transportation to residents within the county for medical and social services appointments
• Track and maintain record of donations and donor master list
