Compensation: $24.04/hr.

The Employment Specialist expands vocational opportunities for persons with psychiatric disabilities providing individualized, community-based and integrated employment support.

This position is a part of our interdisciplinary Improving Community Treatment Success (ICTS) team.  The ICTS team focuses on establishing and implementing  comprehensive, individualized community-based services for individuals under supervision of department of corrections, who have substance use and/or co-occurring substance use disorders and mild to moderate mental illness, and are considered high risk for re-offending.  Services provided to individuals in the ICTS program include substance use/co-occurring treatment, employment readiness, housing assistance, peer support, care coordination and community support, and crisis stabilization, as needed.

Responsibilities Include: 

• Directly assist consumers to choose, obtain and maintain competitive employment
• Identify, cultivate and document community employment opportunities
• Assist to measure employer and consumer satisfaction at least on a semi-annual basis
• Appropriate documentation and recording within the case record according to policy
• Participate in ongoing clinical supervision
• Regularly attend team meetings and huddles
• Adhere to ongoing professional training policies
• Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, VR, and community
• Other duties as assigned

 

Job Requirements

 High School/GED required

 Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in a human service-related field preferred

• At least six (6) months of professional experience in supported employment, mental health, public health, environmental health, education, social services, adult corrections, probation and parole, public administration, business administration, or a closely-related area required
• A valid driver's license and agency established minimum automobile coverage required
• The ability to obtain and maintain a Class E MO driver’s license by the end of the 60-day introductory period required

If qualifying under the IHS qualifications:
• At least four (4) years of experience required if a High School/GED is the highest education obtained
• At least two (2) years of experience required if an Associate’s degree is the highest education obtained
(*If the degree is an Associate’s of Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support from an approved institution; then no additional experience is required)
• At least one (1) year of experience required if a non-human service Bachelor’s degree is the highest education obtained
• All experience must include working with individuals with psychiatric, substance use, and/or developmental disabilities

QUALIFICATION(S): LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Certified Peer Specialist required*
(*if HS/GED is highest education level obtained and applicant has less than four (4) years of professional experience)
