Job Description

The Driver for Royal Oaks Hospital shall be responsible for dropping off and picking up patients.  

Job Responsibilities

  1. Requires working in a team environment.
  2. Needs to have effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Possess cognitive, organizational, and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple stressors.
  4. Drive with-in posted speed limits with transporters and passengers in their seatbelts while vehicle is in motion.
  5. Acts as a preceptor and educator to new staff.
  6. Attends 20 or more hours of continuing education per year, passes initial/annual physical, and passes required classes such as CALM and CPR.
  7. Helps promote Quality Improvement to the hospital.
  8. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. (transferring patient luggage in and out of vehicles).
  9. Must have knowledge / understanding of hospital policy & procedures, and abide by Federal, State, and TJC standards and regulations.
  10. Must be able to walk the distance equivalent to two city blocks within four minutes.
  11. Must be able to preform essential job functions such as bending, lifting and transporting patients.
