Senior Community Rehabilitation Specialist


Senior Community Rehabilitation Specialists assist the Wellness Team in the facilitation of psychosocial education and training groups for residents of SWMPRC. They may also be responsible for planning and facilitating psychosocial education and training groups under the guidance and direction of their Supervisor.

1) Will use individual and group activities to help consumers develop behaviors and skills to allow them to return to and remain involved in activities appropriate to his/her age and based on their needs and abilities
2) Will use DMH approved curriculum focused on building skills and knowledge about the management of mental illness to help the consumer remain community living
3) Will use methods and techniques that improve an individuals desire or motivation to maximize independence
4) Uses a curriculum built around 5 core components 1)Living skills, 2) Self-care skills, 3) Social skills, 4) Leisure skills, and 5) work skills utilizing training, coaching and supporting daily living skills, mood management, relationships and boundaries, medication education, symptom recognition and reduction, health and wellness, anger management, problem solving, goal setting, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
5) Will provide consistent meaningful individual and group activity which is appropriate to the skill and cognitive level of functioning of the consumers and does so in a manner that is of interest of the consumer.
6) Will serve as a mentor for CRS team members; assists in the instruction and orientation of new CRS members regarding their duties in the care and treatment of clients and expectations of the facility; and provide direction and feedback regarding performance of duties.
7) Will participate in regularly scheduled interdisciplinary meetings pertaining to observations of clients' behavior as well as CRS functions within the program.
8) Will develop skills to receive certification as a Wellness Coach.
9) Other duties as assigned

Driving is an essential function of the position, a valid license and agency established minimum automobile coverage are required in the event the employee drives during the course of employment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with arms and hands; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities of the position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Job Requirements

GED/High School Diploma, 2 years experience as a Community Rehabilitation Specialist or equivalent. A valid driver's license at the time of hire with the ability to obtain and maintain a Class E MO driver’s license by the end of the 60 day introductory period.
