Job Description


Physician, licensed in the state of Missouri, who assumes responsibility for administering all medical services performed by the Opioid Treatment Program.  In addition, the medical director shall be responsible for ensuring that the OTP is in compliance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations.  Responsibilities of the medical director include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring that clients meet admission criteria and receive the requires physical examination and laboratory testing;
  • Prescribing Methadone/Buprenorphine with client input; and
  • Reviewing and signing the client’s initial treatment plan and the comprehensive treatment plan on an annual basis



Job Requirements

Graduation from approved accredited medical school.
Recognized by Missouri Healing Arts Board as a physician
Must meet the criteria for credentialing and privileging in accordance with the Medical Staff By-Laws.
Valid Missouri Physician License.
Requires leadership and team skills.
Possess cognitive, organizational, and emotional ability and maturity to deal effectively with multiple stressors, deadlines and difficult situations.
Possess outstanding communication skills both verbal and written.
Requires willingness to accept additional responsibilities as needed.
Requires professional appearance and confidence.
Has a commitment to service and personal excellence. Is team oriented and values diversity.

Hours are flexible; approximately 9 hours per week and after hour consult availability.


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with arms and hands; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities of the position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
