Compensation: $61,214.40


Assumes 24-hour accountability for assigned unit.  Maintains standards of Professional Nursing Practice.  Acts as an interdisciplinary team member responsible for overall coordination of care and services delivered to clients.  Works collaboratively with members of the health care team and provides patient/family education.  Demonstrates competency to provide age appropriate care to preadolescents (3-12), adolescents (13-17), adults 18 and older including geriatrics.  This job is classified as Category I and may involve tasks with exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
In the absence of nurse volunteers, prn nurses, flex team nurses secured by reasonable efforts or contracted temporary agency staff and if qualified reassignments cannot be made, the hospital may require mandated overtime to fulfill obligations based on the Missouri Nurse Practice Act to perform patient care which is required.                              


1) Requires leadership and team skills.
2) Assumes 24-hour accountability for nursing care to assigned unit.
3) Requires effective verbal, written and nonverbal communication skills.
4) Possess cognitive, organizational and emotional ability and maturity to deal effectively with multiple stressors, deadlines and difficult situations.
5) Provide direct patient care to assigned age groups.
6) Requires working with physically aggressive patients; participates in physical intervention techniques.
7)  Requires bending, lifting and transporting patients.
8)  Acts as a Preceptor and educator to new employees.
9)  Participates in mandatory overtime per nursing protocol.
10)  Participates in the hospital Continuous Quality Improvement Program.   
11)  Attends 52 hours of continuing education per year.
12)  Serves as a member of assigned committees.
13)  Physical strength, agility and endurance for heavy lifting, moving patients and equipment.
14)  Demonstrates skills required for a registered nurse within scope of practice.

15) Other duties as assigned                 

Although driving is not an essential function of the position, a valid license and agency established minimum automobile coverage are required in the event the employee drives during the course of employment.            


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with arms and hands; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and hear.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities of the position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Job Requirements


Graduate from an accredited school of nursing, Possess a valid Missouri license, Maintains education credits for applicable certification requirements, One year of psychiatric experience, Education and training in Infection Control practices including knowledge of epidemiological principles.Has a commitment to service and personal excellence.
