Compensation: 12.24/hour

$12.24 (Shift Differential Offered) PLUS $500 Sign On Bonus after 6 months of employment!!

Must be able to work evenings, nights and/or weekends and have reliable transportation.

Community Living Instructors assist in creating an environment in which individuals diagnosed with a severe and persistent mental illness and/or a developmental disability will have the opportunity to grow and make the transition to community living. This will be done not only in the areas of supporting, encouraging and instructing, but also by modeling for them the desired behaviors. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Resident Obligations:

  • Assist in the implementation of Treatment Plan.
    • To ensure that residents have every opportunity to exercise their personal choice in all aspects of their lives in accordance with any limitations that maybe outlined in their Treatment Plan
    • Assist residents with decision making, if needed, in accordance with Treatment Plan.
    • Support, encourage, assess, and document resident performance of Activities of Daily Living Skills and progress towards outcomes/goals according to their Treatment Plan.
  • Interact with members in a supportive and positive manner at all times.
  • Transport residents to activities and appointments.
  • Assist in supplying 24-hour supervision.
  • Ensure physical safety of members.

Shift Duties:

  • Upon arrival, read the Communication log/ Manager Notes and consult with peers concerning current situation regarding ISL/PISL.
  • Plan and prepare of daily meals in accordance with any required nutrition plans.
  • Grocery shopping; House hold supply shopping
  • Document events and activities in daily resident progress notes per training received.
  • Administer medications and document any adverse reactions.
  • Monitor financial books, receipts and cash; Complete financial ledgers monthly
  • Monitor MAR for signatures, errors, new med orders.
  • House Maintenance and Cleaning Duties
  • Daily Cleaning
    • Perform daily inspections of house and complete shift housekeeping assignments.
    • Dusting; vacuuming; mopping; wiping down counters, sinks and tables; and cleaning toilets and showers; clean and maintain company vehicles; cleaning up bodily fluids i.e. urine, feces, semen.
    • Wash resident laundry (including bedding)
  • Deep Cleaning
    • Cleaning out refrigerator; scrubbing floors; scouring bathrooms; cleaning resident’s rooms; scrubbing walls and baseboards.
  • Maintenance
    • Plunge Toilets effectively
    • Replace Light bulbs, toner cartridges, printer paper
    • Report improperly operating appliances, fire alarms, and doors and windows.

 Additional Job Duties:

  • Other duties, tasks, assignments or instruction given by a manager.
  • Complete all required trainings outlined in policy manual.
  • To adhere to all policies and procedures of the Crider ISL/PISL.
  • Attend all training as required by Crider Health Center, Accreditors and Funders.
  • Regular attendance (except as excused).





Job Requirements


  • Diploma from accredited high school or GED as recognized by the US Department of Education.
  • Two years experience in a related field working with persons with a developmental disability and/or mental illness; or a bachelor’s degree in a mental health related field – as applicable to the specific position
  • Obtain and/or maintain a current chauffeur’s license/insurance
  • Must have a reliable personal vehicle with current insurance, registration and copy of inspection as required by state laws
  • Obtain certifications as a Medication Technician I and CPR/First Aid.

The Community Living Instructors receive administrative supervision from the Pathways Director of Nursing, ISL/PISL House Manager with clinical oversight by the Mental Health Professional.
