Activity Aide

Job Description

Activity Aides assist the Wellness Team in the facilitation of activities and groups for residents of SWMPRC. This position is responsible for providing a variety of activity services to consumers to enhance rehabilitation in 5 program components:

1) Living skills, 2) Self-care skills, 3) Social skills, 4) Leisure skills, 5) Work skills


Job Responsibilities
1) Provide a positive/supportive environment for all patients during activity groups.
2) Demonstrate verbal and written communication.
3) Plan and execute activity groups based on specific themes.
4) Provide groups that build skills and meet treatment goals of all patients.
5) Adapt group plans based on the needs of patients.
6) Educate patients in activities and techniques, such as sports, dance, music, art or relaxation techniques, designed to meet their specific physical and psychological needs.
7) Conduct activity groups that improve patients' mental and physical well-being.
8) Encourage patients with special needs and circumstances to acquire new skills and get involved in health-promoting leisure activities, such as sports, games, arts and crafts, and other healthy coping skills.
9) Observe, analyze, and document patients' participation, reactions, and progress during Wellness programs as needed.
10) Communicate behavioral observations to members of the Wellness team.
11) Other duties as assigned.

Driving is an essential function of the position, a valid license and agency established minimum automobile coverage are required in the event the employee drives during the course of employment.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements

GED/High School Diploma, 2 years experience in a mental health related field preferred. A valid driver's license at the time of hire with the ability to obtain and maintain a Class E MO driver’s license by the end of the 90 day introductory period.
