Compensation

POSITION PURPOSE

The Pharmacist-In-Charge will maintain records of all transactions of the pharmacy necessary to ensure accurate control over and accountability for all drugs as required by state and federal laws, rules, and regulations. The Pharmacist-in-Charge will be responsible for operations of the retail side of the pharmacy as well as the primary consultant responsible for Royal Oaks Hospital pharmacy operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – JOB SPECIFIC

• Manages pharmacy employees; may manage business support, technical or production staff
• Has accountability for managing financial resources
• Develops processes and procedures to implement functional strategies
• Applies expertise to improve effectiveness and provide guidance to employees in own area
• Maintains accurate and detailed records of all prescription transactions, and submits appropriate claims for third-party reimbursement
• Consults with prescribers and nurses regarding pharmaceutical questions
• Responsible for all mail order processes
• Monitors storage, distribution, and use of pharmaceuticals
• Purchases and inventories control of pharmaceuticals
• Reviews third party adjudications and reconciliations to assure maximum reimbursement rates
• Works with hospital staff to meet inpatient pharmacy needs
• Reviews/approves orders submitted from the hospital
• Partners with marketing/public relations to increase/maintain consumer use of pharmacy
• Collates information from outpatient and inpatient services for reporting to Senior Management, Medical Staff, and Board of Directors
• Participates in the hospital Continuous Quality Improvement Program
• Acts a Chair of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics meetings for the hospital
• Acts as a resource related to medications in the EMR and Pyxis/RxConnect
• Completes annual Relias requirements
• Participates in the Safety Committee

Job Requirements

EDUCATION

Doctorate degree in pharmacy required

WORK EXPERIENCE

• At least three (3) years of experience required
• Experience in both inpatient and retail pharmacy preferred
• Knowledge of mail order processes required
• Computer efficiency, strong verbal and written communication skills, and strong organizational skills required

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

• Licensed Pharmacist issued by the Missouri State Board of Pharmacy required
• Must maintain education credits for applicable certification requirements
